Jaipur police launch QR code boards so residents can find their beat officers

Jaipur police have launched “Know Your Police Beat” (Apni Beat Police Ko Janein) QR code awareness boards to help residents reach their local beat police and officers easily, according to a DIPR release issued on Thursday, 29 October 2026.

How the Jaipur police QR code boards work

Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal launched the boards at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate on Thursday. The release said the initiative will make it easier for people to connect directly with their area police, contact them when needed and get police-related information. Each beat has been given its own QR code, and boards have been prepared to match each beat, he said. Seven to 10 boards will be put up at suitable places in each beat area so that as many people as possible can use the service. Scanning the code will show the beat details, the police station address, its Google location and contact number, and the names and phone numbers of the DCP, Additional DCP, ACP, SHO and beat officer concerned.

Key Facts

  • Initiative: Know Your Police Beat QR code boards
  • Launched by: Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal, 29 October 2026
  • First phase: Mansarovar police station area
  • Boards per beat: 7 to 10
  • QR shows: beat officer, SHO, ACP, DCP contacts, station location

Starting with Mansarovar police station

The initiative will begin at the Mansarovar police station area in the first phase, Mittal said. It will then be extended in stages to all police station areas of the Jaipur Police Commissionerate according to their beats. A key feature is that when officers are transferred or posted elsewhere, scanning the same QR code will show the newly posted officer’s name and contact number. This will help people get updated contact details and avoid trouble caused by outdated information, the release said. The aim is to make communication between police and the public simpler, more accessible and more effective, and to strengthen police-public partnership.

Senior officers at the launch

Special Police Commissioner Omprakash, Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Dr Ajay Singh, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Administration) Pradeep Mohan Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Dr Rameshwar Singh, DCP (Crime) Yogesh Goyal, DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj and DCP Headquarters Anushtha Kalia were among those present. A beat is the smallest unit of policing, in which a constable or head constable is responsible for a set area within a police station’s limits. Residents can scan the code with a smartphone camera or any QR scanner app. In an emergency, residents should still dial 112, the national emergency number that connects to police, fire and ambulance services, rather than wait to contact a beat officer. Residents in other parts of the city will be able to use the boards as they are installed in their police station areas, according to the phased plan.

Why It Matters: Residents often do not know who their beat officer is; a scan gives the current name and number even after transfers.
