Pulse polio campaign in 32 Rajasthan districts on 22 November to cover 92.83 lakh children

A sub-national pulse polio campaign will be held on 22 November 2026 in 32 selected districts of Rajasthan, with a target of giving polio drops to 92.83 lakh children up to five years of age, the state’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) said on 23 October.

How the pulse polio campaign is being prepared

The plans were reviewed at a State Task Force meeting under the National Immunisation Programme, held at Swasthya Bhawan in Jaipur on Friday and chaired by Dr Jogaram, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM). He told all departments involved to coordinate with each other and complete the necessary preparations in good time. Dr Jogaram said preparations should start right away at every level. He asked for timely training of the staff who will be deployed in the campaign, and for district committees formed for planning and management to hold their meetings and act on a wide scale before the campaign day. He said every level of the health system should be involved, from the state down to districts and blocks, so that no eligible child is missed on the campaign day.

Key Facts

  • Campaign date: 22 November 2026
  • Districts: 32
  • Target: 92.83 lakh children up to 5 years
  • Chair: Dr Jogaram, Mission Director, NHM
  • HPV vaccination: special push where progress is below 75%

The 32 districts covered

DIPR listed the districts where the campaign will run: Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Kota, Kotputli-Behror, Nagaur, Pali, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Salumber, Sikar, Sirohi, Tonk and Udaipur. Parents in these districts with children under five can expect polio drops to be offered on 22 November, and should follow local health department announcements for booth locations and any follow-up rounds. The release did not give details of door-to-door rounds after the booth day.

HPV vaccination progress reviewed

At the same meeting, the Mission Director reviewed progress of the HPV vaccination programme. He directed special efforts in districts where progress is below 75 per cent, including awareness sessions in schools and colleges to motivate targeted beneficiaries to get vaccinated. He asked officials to work with local officers of the Panchayati Raj and Education departments to reach the target group. Director of RCH Dr Madhu Rateshwar and Project Director (Immunisation) Dr Raghuraj Singh attended, along with representatives of the Women and Child Development, Information and Public Relations, and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj departments, and of WHO, UNICEF and other development partners. The meeting brought health and partner agencies together to plan logistics, training and awareness well ahead of the November round. DIPR did not say whether a mop-up round will follow, so families should check with local health workers.

Why It Matters: Repeated polio rounds keep immunity high among young children, and the HPV push aims to protect girls against cervical cancer later in life.
