A Foundation Programme on Safe Sport and athlete safeguarding opened at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar on 21 October 2026, run by the Bharat Centre of Olympic Research and Education (BCORE), PIB said on 24 October.

What the Safe Sport programme covers
BCORE works under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Studies Centre at RRU, which the release describes as an institution of national importance and India’s pioneering national security and police university. The residential programme ran for three days, from 21 to 23 October. It brought together athletes, coaches and sports administrators nominated by National Sports Federations, the Central Armed Police Forces, a SAI centre and high-performance academies, along with researchers, safeguarding professionals and sports medicine experts. According to the release, Safe Sport and athlete safeguarding have been declared one of the IOC’s key strategic priorities, and the programme aims to bring that global priority into India’s sporting culture through awareness, international knowledge exchange and hands-on learning. The opening ceremony also introduced BCORE’s work in anti-doping education and research, Olympic event hosting, governance and social legacy.
