The Isarda-Dausa drinking water project has reached a key milestone, with water from the Isarda Dam intake well now reaching the project’s new filter plant, the Rajasthan government’s Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) said in a release dated Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

What the Isarda-Dausa drinking water project will deliver
According to DIPR, the project costs about Rs 3,588 crore and is designed to treat water from the Isarda Dam and carry it to villages and towns in Dausa and Sawai Madhopur districts. It links 1,256 villages and six major towns to the drinking water network and aims to give tap connections to more than 3,06,198 households, supplying clean drinking water to nearly 35 lakh people. The release describes water scarcity as the biggest obstacle to the overall development of the two districts. A 225 MLD (million litres per day) filter plant is being built under the project, and testing and commissioning of the plant are now under way, the department said.

Under the first package of the scheme, 299 km of pipeline has been laid out of the proposed 341 km main transmission line that runs from the Isarda intake well to Mahwa, DIPR said. Clear water reservoirs and filter plants at Isarda and Bagri have also been completed. A total of Rs 1,006 crore has been spent on Package 1 so far. Under Package 2, construction of the intake well and the pump house building at Isarda Dam has been completed. A Hindi version of the release gives a cluster-wise picture. In the Lalsot cluster, 302 villages and Lalsot town are to benefit; 124.7 km of pipeline has been laid and 11 overhead tanks are under construction. In the Dausa cluster, 154 km of a proposed 1,709 km pipeline is in place for 248 villages and Dausa town. Link to the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal project
The state government places the scheme within its wider plan for eastern Rajasthan. DIPR said the revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project is worth Rs 91,000 crore and is meant to provide water for farming, industry and drinking needs. Out of that budget, seven drinking water projects worth Rs 23,312 crore are under way, the release said. It also listed the Kishau multipurpose dam, the Yamuna water agreement and later phases of the Dewas project as steps through which long-pending inter-state water disputes have been settled, and said budget provisions have been made alongside the announcements. The scheme is also being extended to 177 villages of Sawai Madhopur district (99 in Bonli tehsil, 61 in Malarna Doongar and 17 in Chauth Ka Barwara), for which a work order of Rs 260.62 crore has been issued. The department has set a proposed target of supplying drinking water to urban areas through the main pipeline by November, with rural connections to follow in phases where structures are ready.
