Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde said honouring ex-servicemen and caring for their welfare is part of India’s tradition and culture, while addressing the golden jubilee of the Jaipur District Ex-Services League in Jaipur on Sunday, 25 October 2026, DIPR said.

Haribhau Bagde on what veterans give society
The event was organised by the District Ex-Servicemen Association, Jaipur, to mark 50 years of the league. Mr Bagde spoke of the contribution of serving soldiers and veterans to the country’s security and sovereignty, and said that even after retirement soldiers help national development at many levels through their discipline, experience and leadership. He described ex-servicemen as a national asset who bring decades of experience, leadership and strategic thinking into society, and said their continued involvement in social life strengthens the country as a whole. He urged them to guide young people and to help tackle problems such as drug abuse, adding that “once a soldier, always a soldier”. He also honoured members of the organisation for outstanding work. He added that ex-servicemen play an important role in unity, cooperation and stability in society.
